| - The Show Advisory Committee has been hard at work, incorporating many suggested revisions and changes for 2008. The new RMHA Show Rule Book should be mailed to members soon. When you receive your copy, please review it thoroughly. Here is a summary of the major changes for the 2008 show season. Good Luck to All!

- Eliminated the Beginner Classes.

- Show Managers must send the results of the show to the RMHA office to post on-line. Show Managers must check for current membership and exhibitor cards (forms to be available at all shows.) Completed show placings must be sent to the tabulator to check before any RMHA monies will be sent.

- There must be an Equipment Steward at every show to check tack, shoes, etc.

- Only Class A shows are sanctioned by the RMHA. B shows can continue to be held as fun shows, but will not receive any points.

- Youth 11 and under are now Youth 8 11 years of age.

- Youth may only show in Youth classes. (removed 16 and older from other classes.)

- Adult family and non-family household member(s), significant others, or a spouse of a Professional who are 18 or older must obtain a Professional Exhibitor card.

- International Show Championship Incentive Program. A RMHA horse and exhibitor winning five first place ribbons in a class category at RMHA Class A sanctioned shows during the show season will automatically be eligible to enter the championship or *grand championship for that class category at the International Show. (*if there is no qualifying championship offered for that class category).

- Western Classes the horse will back up 4 steps and perform a 360 turn on the hind quarters.

- Conformation Classes The exhibitor may not touch the horse at anytime once you have entered the show ring.

- Conformation classes All horses 2 and over (mares, geldings, and stallions) must be shown in a snaffle bit with a lead chin run through the rings of the snaffle and snapped back to the lead. Arabian halters, with bits may still be used, but no other bits, chains over the nose, or reins will be allowed. Yearlings can still be show in a show halter, or with a snaffle bit.

- Dowels are permitted on shoes.

- Twisted wire bits of any kind are not permitted.

- Curb chains and straps must be loose enough for two fingers to slide in between the curb and the horse.

- Youth Showmanship Removed specific point value breakdown under the primary categories of 25% Appearance of Exhibitor, 25% Appearance of Horse and 50% Showmanship Skills. Showmanship Pattern is to be posted at least 2 hours prior to the class and will include at minimum: leading horse at a walk in pattern indicated, setup for inspection, backing and turning horse up to 360 degrees. No gaiting will be required.

- Trail Pleasure horses must be ridden on a loose rein.

- Show Pleasure horses must be ridden on a light rein.

- Trail Obstacle Rules, Required Elements and a Point System have been added.

- Water Glass Rules and description have been added.

- Costume Class will be at the Trail Walk.

- The regular show season will end with the International Show.

- The Trainer of the Year will receive points for horses that he/she trains and rides.
