| - Don and Nancy Copland own Barbs Stormy Knight. The Coplands live in Brookville, IN, at Hidden Barn Farm, a 50 acre spread they share with two dogs, one cat, and several head of Belted Galloway and Scottish Highland cattle. They have two married children, Brendon and Laura, and a 14-month old granddaughter, Ella.
-
- Nancy took riding lessons as a teenager, but Don had not ridden a horse until last year. They never intended to have horses but ran across an ad for Rocky Mountain weanlings that piqued their interest. After some research, they contacted the breeder, Norma Frauhiger. When they saw the weanlings, they were hooked. The babies were so laid back, they bought the weanlings, took them home and watched them grow.
-
- When their foals came of training age, the Coplands began looking for a trainer. After visiting Stoner Ridge Farm and talking to the owners, Robert and Lyngle Lawson, they knew to whom they wanted to entrust their babies. To no Rocky owners surprise, they have increased their horse herd to five; all are currently at Stoner Ridge Farm.
-
- Granddaughter Ella had her first horse ride at ten months on Barbs Stormy Knight and loved every minute. Nancy has resumed riding lessons with the Lawsons and plans to enter the show ring next year. The Coplands look forward to years of trail riding, meeting new Rocky friends, and watching their horses excel in the show ring.
