2001 Survey Response Report
Enclosed are the results of the RMHA survey conducted between Jan March 2001. The report is based on the input from 710 members including 153 family respondents who were allotted two survey responses. The results represents 47% of total membership (at the time of the survey) from 43 U.S. states and 4 countries (Canada, Germany, Holland, Switzerland). The survey response is significant and diverse and can be used with confidence to guide the RMHA in developing its short and long term plans and policies.

Purpose

The purpose of the survey was to:

1. Learn important membership preferences and priorities to guide the RMHA in short and long term choices. Generally, these are obvious from the percentage of Yes / No questions and the most frequent verbatim.
2. Gain unique insight. Although this can be found as noted above, more often it is in the verbatim and must be "mined" from the responses.
3. Training opportunities. This important opportunity area is identified in two ways:
a) Obvious: request for specific information.
b) Less obvious: concluded from inaccurate or misunderstandings stated in responses. This offers a real opportunity to correct understanding and minimize the perpetuation of misinformation.
4. Implementation: Most of the sections of the report can be deployed directly to existing standing committees for immediate use and, as such, represents key elements of a RMHA strategic plan.

Expectations

These results are to aid the RMHA in setting short and long term priorities, adjust policies and By-Laws with the aim to meet members needs and to continuously improve the association. As we have assembled the results of the survey, it is important to note that the actions of the Board over the past 6-9 months have been consistent with the desires expressed by the membership via the survey. This should be encouraging to us all. The survey outcome will provide further support to continue on these paths of action.
