Third Competition:

Hello, my Name is Bill Fisher, from Stoney Point Farm. For 16 years we bred, raised and trained Rocky Mountains at our Farm in Smiths Grove Kentucky. Eight years ago we retired from the breeding and raising of Rocky’s and now at 71 years old I am trail riding every chance I get. Nickolei previously our breeding stallion, now gelded, is my Trail Partner. He is a very trustworthy and sensible horse.
I enjoy the Rated Trail Ride, because of the interesting obstacles we get to do and to prove to myself that we can accomplish them. I am proud of Nickolei for helping me get a perfect score on our 3rd RMRTP ride, at Logan Hubble Park this June. It was a nice day and a beautiful ride with lot of enthusiasm. I am looking forward to our next Ride in September.
Happy Trails
Bill Fisher
Second Competition:

Hello! My name is Emma DeWeese. My mare Jazzy and I were able to ride and earn a perfect score on the second RMRTP ride at Green River! It was a beautiful day. What better way to spend Memorial Day weekend than to be on a horse! As usual, the obstacles that were set up on the trails were interesting and challenging. Jazzy and I enjoyed each of them.
I am 14 years old and have been riding for 7 years! I love riding bareback and going new places. I love to explore with Jazzy and ride with our friends. I have never had a boring ride on Jazzy and I can't help but smile when I ride her.
Jazzy is my 8 year old Rocky Mountain Mare. She is a wonderful horse that I have been able to train all myself. Jazzy is very versatile and fun to ride. Whether on the trail, rail, or at home we have a blast together. Jazzy takes care of me on the trails. Though having fun anywhere we go, trail riding is our passion. Jazzy is quite a showoff and loves to show everyone what she can do. I am proud to say she did that - being the only horse and rider team to win a perfect 25 score on the May 29th rated trail ride.
Jazzy and I are a team more than ever now and can't wait until the next RMRTP trail ride. We know we will have a blast! We sure hope to see you there as well!
Happy Trails!
Emma & Jazzy
First Competition:

Hello, my name is Peg Edwards from Pegasus Stables, Mount Washington, KY (www.PegasusStablesKY.com or peggsplace@windstream.net) A lover and owner of 33 Rocky Mountain Horses which includes 3 stallions standing at stud. Peg’s Diego, Top Guns Maverick and Pegs Knight Sizzler.
We rode this year’s first rated trail ride on May 8th at Shaker Village State Park, Harrodsburg, KY. I was able to have a perfect ride with a perfect score on my perfect horse, Flame. Flame is a wonderful 4 year old gelding that’s always willing to please. He is my best friend when on the trails or the rails, I put all trust in him to take care of me and he does. Not only is he is a treasure found in a trail horse but he has the beauty of a radiant sun. Giving thanks to his Dam Pegs Sunshine and his Sire, Top Guns Maverick.
This will be our third year of riding the RMRTP with my husband Bill and granddaughter Shelby on our horses Flame, Sherbert and Splish. It has been a great adventure and I would like to invite all who haven’t joined in.
This years first rated trail ride was a perfect day, bright, crisp and cool no better weather for riding. And seeing all our Rocky Mountain trail buddies was simply wonderful and encouraging. The day was filled with excitement and competitions around each bend of the trail; it just doesn’t get any better than this.
Last but not least we here at Pegasus Stables want to thank the RMRTP staff of how much we appreciate your time and talent and particularly grateful because we know of the many demands on your time to make our trail ride so perfect.
Blessings and Happy trails!
MISSION
The Rocky Mountain Horse was founded on basic principles such as sure-footedness, willingness to please, and versatility unmatched by any other breed. The Rocky Mountain Rated Trail Program (RMRTP) is designed to use a series of obstacles in a natural trail environment. This will allow the horse to demonstrate its athletic skill, coordination, confidence, intelligence and gait. Given the growing popularity of trail horses, the RMRTP will showcase the superiority of the Rocky Mountain Horse®.
Program Overview
The Rated Trail course is designed in a natural trail environment fashioned to accommodate any level of rider and will allow sufficient time for course completion. There will be a minimum and maximum time for each ride. Each ride lasts 2-3 hours long.
The Rated Trail Director will send riders and horses to the trail at intervals so as not to create congestion. Riding in pairs or small groups is allowable, provided there is enough space between riders at the judged areas.
Within the trail ride, each horse and rider will encounter five judged obstacles. See 2010 obstacle course listing.
There will be a judge at each location to score each horse on an established scale based on the horse’s attitude, manners, style and willingness to perform each task.
At the completion of each competition, judges will submit their score sheets to the registrar who will tally the results and forward to the RMRTP Secretary.
At the completion of the year’s competition, the RMRTP Committee Secretary will calculate and disseminate total accumulated points for each competitor. The RMRTP committee will arrange for recognition of the participants.
