Recent Bylaw change

A recent Bylaw change (approved by the membership) allows the registration of a horse after both parents have been certified if the sire and dam were not certified at the time of breeding. The RMHA Committees, Board and office staff have completed the process of incorporating this change into the RMHA Rules, the Rules of the Registry and the forms used for registration.

Because of this change, a few new questions have been added on the Application for Registration.

In addition, this new Bylaw change will mean that some Grade Mares can be converted to fully registered mares (if the reason they were Grade was an uncertified parent and that parent has since been certified). A form has been added for Conversion of Grade Mares with this in mind.

The RMHA Board encourages all breeders to certify their stallions and mares prior to breeding but recognizes that accidental breedings occur and wants to allow all foals from two Rocky Mountain parents to be registered and certified. Registration for a horse whose parents were certified after conception will include an extra $75 fee for members ($150 for non-members). Conversion of Grade Mare papers after certification of a previously uncertified parent will be $75 ($150 for non-members). This is a discounted introductory rate and will only be available through December 31, 2018. Fees for these services have been added to the 2018 Fee Schedule.
