RMHA EQUESTRIAN ATHLETE PROGRAM

Sign up for the RMHA Equestrian Athlete Program!

A recognition program for youth (in grades 1-12) who own, ride, show, trail, game, and any other sporting activities with a Rocky Mountain Horse. It’s free to sign up.
The details…
1.  We will send communication to the school of the athlete advising of the athlete’s involvement in equestrian sport including a certificate which the school can use to recognize the athlete.  The athlete will be copied on this communication so they will have a copy of the certificate should the school not have a recognition program.
2.  We will encourage the school to recognize the athlete in social media posts if the athlete has information about achievements at shows and/or high point awards achievements.
3.  RMHA will create a link on the Youth page to recognize those who are in the program which will include their year/grade in school.  This will be updated each year the athlete re-enrolls in the program.
4.  RMHA will send a patch which the athlete can affix on a jacket, backpack, saddle pad, etc.  One free patch and any additional patches to be purchased.
5. As the program grows, there will be numbered patches for each year the youth enrolls.

If there is interest, RMHA may explore development of merchandise with the RMHA Equestrian Athlete logo that can be ordered by the athletes.

Designation as an Equestrian Athlete may be beneficial to include on resumes and in other avenues where participation in sport is valued.

Do you like to trail ride with your Rocky?

You can join the Youth division of the RMHA Trail Mileage Program! Why not sign up to log those miles and enjoy the awards? RMHA Youth, age 17 and under, can enroll.

Every fall the RMHA holds an International Pink Ride and invites riders around the world to organize local rides benefitting Breast Cancer Awareness. Maybe you could help organize a Pink Ride or a trail ride on another date in your area. You can log all those miles for the RMHA Trail Mileage Program, too.

Do you think you might like to take your Rocky to horse shows?

There are RMHA sanctioned shows with Saddleseat and Western classes available for youth of all ages! Take a look at the upcoming show schedule and see what you might be interested in.

Do you ride a Rocky that was Born and Bred in Kentucky?

Check out the RMHA KHBIF program where you and your horse can earn awards and some cash at the end of the year whether you like to ride in horse shows or you like to compete in competitive trail events.

Do you and your Rocky do it all?

The RMHA Youth Award of Excellence is one of the highest achievements an RMHA Youth can achieve. This award is for youth who are actively involved in all aspects of the RMHA Youth Program. It is hopefully helping to develop the future leaders of the RMHA! Points are achieved through volunteer work, trail riding activities, showing your Rocky through RMHA, 4-H or other show programs, participating and attending clinics and a variety of other activities! You receive points when you and your Rocky are in parades, demonstrations, breed promotions! We are also rewarding those youth who are actually “hands on” with their Rocky and are “Enhancing their Equine Knowledge”! There are four award levels and two age divisions: 11 and under and ages 12 to 17. You will find a list of the activities that qualify for points and a log sheet to track your points on the forms page. There are awards for each level achieved, so print your log sheet and start recording your points for Level 1 today! If you still have questions or need help with anything, please contact the Youth Committee at coordinator@rmhorse.com.

Earning a Youth Award of Excellence is an outstanding adventure that you can plan with your Rocky Mountain Horse.

Do you want to get involved, but need some help?

The RMHA Youth Committee wants to reach out to all youth that love and appreciate all the greatness of the Rocky Mountain Horse no matter where they live! If you have ideas of ways to involve youth in your area, please contact us at coordinator@rmhorse.com! We realize that it may not be easy to travel to events that the Youth Committee may schedule throughout the year but, we would love for everyone to be a part of our contests, the scholarship program, the Youth Award of Excellence program, etc. There are a lot of FUN activities that we want all of the Rocky youth to be able to join in…will you help us reach them? Volunteering to hold trail rides, host clinics or manage other events for youth in your area can be a great way to network with other parents and provide wonderful activities for the kids. If there are clinics and camps planned near where you and your horse are… send us photos so we can share your fun with the rest of the RMHA Youth.

So now you know – You and your Rocky have a lot to do!

TO STAY IN THE KNOW… Join Rocky Mountain Horse Association page and the Rocky Mountain Horse Lovers – Youth Edition on Facebook

Wouldn’t you love to see yourself here on the web? Send your photos to coordinator@rmhorse.com and we will share them in the future on the website or on our Facebook Page!
