Election Update

To Our RMHA Membership,

After the recent election certification, it was brought to the attention of the RMHA Board of Directors that a member whose application for nomination was submitted after the deadline for application, as stated on the Candidate Questionnaire, was included on the ballot as a Nominated Candidate for a position as Member at Large. According to our Bylaws and Rules, this candidate could have been included on the ballot as a Candidate Nominated from the Floor but not via the recommendations from the nominating committee as a Nominated Candidate.

After consultation with the RMHA attorney regarding proper procedure to address this oversight, the RMHA has certified the election of the other three elected Member at Large candidates and will hold a special election for one Member at Large position. The special election ballot will include the unelected Nominated Candidates from the 2021 RMHA election ballot and any qualified candidates nominated from the floor for this position by August 4th. The special election ballot will be submitted (by email or mail) to all qualified RMHA voting members, as defined in our Bylaws and Rules, by August 16th. Votes must be cast and ballots received by 11:59 p.m. est, September 3 to be included in the vote count for this special election.

Approved Nominated Candidates for this special election include:
Robin Drennon
Donnie Flege
Samantha Miller

Nominations for this Member at Large position may be made by the membership as outlined in Article 2, paragraph 2.11.B of the Bylaws. A letter addressed to the Secretary must be received in the RMHA Office (by email, mail or in person) by August 4th for inclusion on this special election ballot. As noted in Rules, Section 4.4.C., the letter of nomination must list the member to be nominated and bear the signatures of two supporting members, who are current members and were voting members on December 31st, 2020. In addition, the member so nominated must endorse in writing his/her consent to such nomination and should include a candidate statement not to exceed 400 words. To be placed on the ballot, candidates must meet all requirements as stated in our Bylaws and Rules.
